As a certified Dyslexia Advocate, member of the International Dyslexia Association, and a parent of a dyslexic child I am able to advise, support and guide families through the journey of proper resources for your child with Dyslexia in Northern Virginia.
Mental Health
Obtain initial consultation with appropriate providers in this community for testing and potential diagnosis yielding a plan of care for treatment.
Seizure Disorders
A seizure is a short change in normal brain activity that can cause changes in awareness, behavior, or body movement. Because anyone can have a seizure, it’s important to recognize seizures. Some seizures are mild and can go unnoticed. Others can cause the person to fall to the ground, or be unable to move or speak.
Epilepsy is not the only cause of a seizure. Seizures can happen from other problems, including:
- Brain injury.
- High fever.
- Alcohol or drug withdrawal.
As the parent of a school age child diagnosed with epilepsy I know how difficult it can be to coordinate diagnostic testing and evaluation with the appropriate specialist, and acquire necessary treatment in a timely fashion.
